Hi just done alot of work on the vx, front pads and rotors new tyres, alignment, new lifters, inlet gaskets replaced, battery plugs, radiator hoses, radiator etc etc and a noise has developed when reversing up an incline
or when just sitting with the vehicle in reverse (auto transmission) sound like a graunching grinding vibration sound, this has just started yesterday when reversing out of a car park I have heard it a couple of times since when reversing or sitting in reverse, the gearbox has been fine up to now no noises or anything indicating a problem the car has done approx 250,000 klms, any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
my bet would be engine mounts have saged and sitting on your x member
Yes this wouldnt surprise me, this noise has only started after having work done on the motor so my hope or thoughts at this stage is that it is a vibration through the body when the car is in reverse and a few revs to load it up a bit, nown and again I would get the vibration in drive so there may be something close to the motor that vibrates against the motor when the motor has a bit of load on it for instance with a few revs and foot on brake. Still exploring this....
