Exclamation Vx seat belt air bag light stays on

Having just joinned I would like to say a big hello to all the Commodore fan/members. Both my wife and myself are fans of the Commodore and previous ones are the VB and VN , we now have a VX wagon.

The problem we have is the Seat belt/Air bag light stays on, someone (not on this forum) suggested disconnecting the battery for 24 hrs- but this does not sound right to me.

Is there a way I can find out from the vehicles diagnosis codes what the problem is (if so how would I do this) or do I need to take it to a Holden dealer?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Safe & Happy driveing - Ronno .

    Welcome to the forum.
You will need to take it to Holden or someone with a Tech 2 to have it diagnosed and the light reset. Disconnecting the battery won't do anything. Sometimes a reset is all that is required.

Also if theres any problems with any parts of the SRS systems, the SRS module does a self check, and if it finds any problems,it logs an error code similar to the ECU error codes. These SRS error codes can only be read and cleared with the Tech 2 or similar scantool.Below is a list of the SRS codes for the VR/VS commodore, although the VX would probably have different SRS codes to these ones,Ive posted these up just to give you an idea of the different codes that can cause the SRS light to come on.

    DTC CODE DESCRIPTION.
13 Driver's Airbag Circuit Short to Earth.
15 Driver's Airbag Circuit Short to Battery.
23 Passenger's Airbag Circuit Short to Earth.
25 Passenger's Airbag Circuit Short to Battery.
31 Driver's Airbag Loop Resistance High.
32 Driver's Airbag Loop Resistance Low.
33 Passenger's Airbag Loop Resistance High.
34 Passenger's Airbag Loop Resistance Low.
43 SRS Warning Lamp Short to Battery.
44 SRS Warning Lamp Circuit Fault.
    48 Ignition Input Voltage Low.
    49 Ignition Input Voltage High.
    53 Configuration Mis-Match.
    55 Sensing Diagnostic Module Fault.
    66 Airbag Deployment Commanded.

I dont have much technical advice for you, but if the error you are getting is accompanied by the warning tones, then I've had a similar problem.
Turned out to be that the drivers side seat track and run over and cut the wires to the seat belt tensioner.

Mate you should read the other posts first before answering a question, because as already mentioned above, removing the battery wont clear SRS codes. They have to be cleared with a suitable scantool..

Yes take to the dealership, though heads up, some will charge there hourly rate $100+ to do this.

also for future reference as this comes up a bit you can buy a equivalent scan tool as the tech 2 here..scantool/egay and if you have the six banger google/bing efilive

Update- took the car in and Tech 2 showed the drivers side air bag not working, it appears some wires are broken in the seat? (Bottom right on the back of the seat in seated possition). It is booked in for repairs in the next few days. Keep you posted and thanks recan tool Ronno

    Until you have an accident.
Plus, the chime is more annoying than the light.

I'd be interested in talking with anyone that has purchased this unit. I bought one and it doesn't seem to work very well at all.
