Weird one to pick your brains
1998 VT Berlina Wagon. 280,000km. When accelerating LIGHTLY there is a whooshing noise. Sounds like a cross between a fan belt slipping and bath water draining. You can only just hear it (not overly loud). The noise goes away once you're cruising and it's persistent when you are accelerating up a hill.
Weird thing is that when you give it shit, there is no noise at all... just under light to medium acceleration. Car has recently had transmission service, plugs, leads, oil and filter.
It almost sounds to me like it's something to do with the fuel... Would dirty injectors make a noise? Not really a huge issue as I'm selling the car shortly but wouldn't mind getting it sorted if I can so the car is 100% for potential buyers.
Might I add, this car does have the common Ecotec power steering whine but as stated, I'm not replacing the pump because it's getting sold soon.

It could be air in the cooling system causing that noise. Try turning the heater off and see if it persists.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
i found a noise like this when i installed amp's into my car and there was the hole which leads the cabin into the engine, so when i would accelerate it would make a light woshing noise, so i covered it and away it went![]()
Starin at the world through my rearview
Go on baby scream to God, he can't hear you
I can feel your heart beatin fast cause it's time to die
Gettin high, watchin time fly
