got a 2.5" with no mufflers, just cat.
it sounds good, just wondering if its bad for the engine ect? back pressure, fuel economy n stuff
only answer this if you're 100% sure, ive read so much shit that isnt true because people have no clue and post anyway
no. car will retune it self to suit any minor changes you make, like the exhaust. the only problems you will get is from the cops coz of noise.
FIRST CAR
'96 VS Executive 3.8L
any fat chicks in the back? that usually causes lack of power and bad fuel economy
its bad as far as possible noise limits being breached as such, but as long as the piping is the appropriate size there will be no negative impact on the engine.
some say that you need a certain amount of backpressure in the exaust, but i certainly wouldnt be looking for that inside a muffler.
hth.

thanks xander and klampy... thats good to hear
i have noticed however that my economy use to sit at around 650, and now sits at 500... and there is a rich smell of unburnt fuel. could this be my o2 sensor failing or what?
ive noticed this only after getting it cut out as well, i know it isnt my oil, coolant, spark plugs, fuel injectors n shit because that usually detoriates over time, this just happened.
nah, it sounds ####ing nice though man, gear 1 up to 6000revs is so nice hahah.. ill get 1 when i have a decent sound recorder
it certainly could be the O2 sensors. depending on how old they are it might just be time to replace them, they dont last forever...

Do you have to get a full roadworthy? If so I wonder how the roadworthy testers will be what with the new rules in Victoria for the testers.
You have probably read the thread on here about the new laws. New Victorian Roadworthy Laws
it states "roadworthy certificate required yes", for walls. FOR WALLS! really? some cops are just the dirtiest people. they were pissed because the maccas i was parked at was closed and the other officer couldnt get in.
so this means i do need to swap my zorzt? or what. they didnt explain shit to me, just put the sticker on and gtfo'd
I dont understand why you're complaining about being defected for having whitewalls when they are a defectable item?
Would you also complain if you got a defect and/or an EPA for your exhaust being so loud?
If you dont want to modify your car to the letter of the law, dont complain when you get picked up on it. Simple as that.

and no jonnoo, everyone whose heard it says it sounds great for a 6.
Any roadworthy inspector passing a vehicle with sidewall damage should have their license suspended and be audited by vicroads.

Oh well, if you're keeping the car in a roadworthy state as you should it shouldnt have been that much of a problem then
Major defect notices are there for when there is a MAJOR safety concern on a vehicle. Sidewall compromisation of tyres is a pretty major safety concern.

Yes, i did read the case study. And all it looks like is you trying to back pedal out of the shit you've gotten yourself into.
Whitewalls = Defectable.
Whitewalls = Shaving sidewall off your tyre, making them unsafe, and also removing load rating information.
Unsafe vehicle = Major Defect
But, if you drive everywhere manually shifting your auto with your hecktik exhaust to 6000rpm to make the chicks wet then it wont matter for much longer because something's going to have something blow up.
