Default would a TD04 turbo be good on a vt

hi guys just got given a TD04 turbo by a mate and really thinking of making my vt a project car and putting the turbo on but the turbo is meant for a wrx that was running 12psi but my questions are will it run good, would i need a custom turbo manifold, also how much would it roughly cost to get it running with similar or lower boost? any help would much appreciated

TD04 is a tad on the small side, you'd be better off tracking down a TD05 as a minimum.

    Yours looking at $5000 easy

    $1000 for fuel at least
    $1000 for manifold
    $800 for tune
    $1400 for intercooler
    $ lots in labour

That turbo Is way too small, you'd need two of them at least.

    TD05-18G or T518z
    TD06SL2-20G
    and the T67 which is pretty much a TD06- with a 25G compressor. Pretty much a hybrid between a TD06 and TD07

These are they types we usually run on SR20s (yes its a bit strange because its an MHI turbo). TD04 is usually way too small for a 2L so its going to be really small and in efficient on an ecotec. I don't know how long it will last with a TD06 or T67 tho.

If you want a cheap one, Look into the kinugawa turbos on ebay. Really really good value for money. Ive sold my GT2871 garrett and gone a TD06SL2-20G.

But TD04 is way to small, Just run a bigger turbo on lower boost. And get the 10cm housing since its a 6.

$1000 for a fuel system sounds a bit steep. I would think the stock l67 pump and injectors would be up to the task unless he was making crazy power and i'm sure you could pick that stuff up fairly cheap

$450 for injectors, $300 for a walbro in-tank pump, and labour.
    Not steep at all.

I am a fan of doing things properly, as I enjoy my motor NOT exploding.

I wasn't thinking of labour since its a project car you'd be expecting that kind of thing to be DIY. I was thinking 600ish for pump and injectors so I guess if you factor in labour and a tank of fuel thats about an even grand

Just ignore that kiwi guy, he can do entire turbo kits for VZ's for under $2k - he's pro.
