vz tail lights.

this is probly a very silly question but i want to be 100% sure before i buy them, are VZ/VY ute tail lights the same shape as the VU tail lights?
they both look the same, but are they?

They should be. The VY came out with both the "Smokey" version and the "Clear" version. And VY Ute Tailights fit on VU's.
