    Angry calling all mechanics

    i took the engine cover off my 02 vx 5.7 v8 today and this is what i found, firstly what is and what does it do, and how much to fix if need be. cheers

    Anyhow. You need a new PCV Hose.

    yeah sorry lol, had problems adding the photos and had to say that i couldnt them on but i got them on had to edit the second thread, hope that make sense

    Got the same thing on mine although I dont think mine is split.
    About $95 odd from Holden for the complete PCV valve and hose that runs alongside the drivers side bank.

    No.....Dont pay $90 just buy the hose should be $30.00 AUD or $1000 NZD .

    Chances are your valve is not faulty just take it out and shake it if it rattles its fine if it does not its gummed up with oil so soak that pig in a jar of petrol over night and check it in the morning it should rattle now.

    oh and clean your motor

    Think you'll find Trademe is your friend for some new hose.Do as undar8ed1 said, if it doen't rattle soak it in petrol should be sweet after that.

    Yeah like everyone else has said,spend abit of love on your engine.Give it a clean!!!

    just an update guys, was giving the engine a clean when i noticed that at the back of the engine, the same hose is completely snapped off and not connected at all, will do some ringing around tomorrow

    That is where they usually break first, the Y piece. I recently bought the whole set up for around $75 from Holden. A bit expensive I thought but better off replacing the whole thing rather than a hose here and there. It will run a lot better.
