Something that just popped into my head was MAYBE! (im no car expert) If the car sounds weird...and is loosing power....and shaking (i assume you mean the engine is shaking and not the actually chassis) maybe just maybe something is stuck in your exhaust?
But i guess the car would not start if there was something in the exhaust and creating such a big problem...im not sure mate. Just go over the car and to to eliminate problems as you go. Things i normally look at are

    1. Air and fuel are getting to the engine
    2. Spark plugs are working and doing there job
    3. no oil leaks / transmission leaks...my old VL had a transmission leak and it felt like i would give the car so many revs and it would hardly move. so check your transmission
    4. Check exhaust/ tip of exhaust for any blockages
    5. Check the radiator...my old gemini blew a head gasket once and all the oil went into my radiator and made the car run BAD!

Thats all i can think of bro but let us know how you go

    Good luck

had this problem once, car sounded like a old volkwagon, ended up being a dead coil pack, all it did was drop 1 cylinder from firing, still ran and drove but had all the symptoms you just said, gutless, stank, sounded weird, worth having a look at mate

Sounds like ignition. Check the plugs, leads and coil packs. It may have dropped or split the purge hose on the bottom of the throttle body but it sunds mopre like a lead or spark plug.

While it is idling, pull the leads off one at a time from the coil packs and see which one (or more than one) has no effect on the way the car runs. You will notice it straight away when the idle drops when you remove one that is firing.
