    Default VT Suspension question

Hey I've got a 98 acclaim riding on standard suspension and 17 inch rims..

Thinking about getting super low springs... Just wondering what i would need to do/buy and what some of the best brands are

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Mate, dont get me wrong but,i wouldnt, unless u wanna scrape just about everything you drive on.I just pulled my Pedders Super Low / Low springs out and installed original FE2 kings back on.If you were in NSW i'll give you these for the fraction of the cost.

    this guys joking

i had King spring SSL's all round, equivelant of Ultralows. Hardly scraped as long as you didnt take kerbs like a douche.

I recommend personally either Kings or Lovells

If you dont wanna spend too much pedders touring are ok. Top of Wheel sits just level with top of wheel arch so gets rid of the gap without being too low. You may need a camber kit so ur tyres dont wear unevenly.

You can laugh till turn blue, but im not joking,i want a drive a car,not ride a lizard,,dont want a look like im wearing my pants half mast and my cap sideways, couldnt go over a speed hump unless come to a dead stop, couldnt go in and out of most driveways, going over train tracks was pain in the back end,i certainly didnt meant driving on the hume hwy.You dont see many good cars dragging their asses around do you?Unless its a dufduf box' .

Yes. I wouldnt call my car shit.

Properly set up you can get a good ride out of SSL's. Out of curiousity did you change the shocks, bushes, swaybars, etc.

There is no proper setup for riding low..Change/replace everything, its still low and when you come to climing something it will scrape.FYI,yes, pedders FE2 shocks and King springs ,yes, pedders bushes,15mm. pedders link pins and just about every rubberised bush on the front end while replacing the springs.Cause,as i said, i wanna drive a car.

Well your first mistake is going to Pedders.

Scrape schmape, i had SL's before and never scraped on shit. SSL's had to be careful and take bumps on an angle, but wouldnt scrape. Beats me how you scraped with SL's unless you were taking bumps at 50kph.

I had SSL's with superpro bushes, whiteline 30mm front 28mm rear swaybar, and the car handled beautifully. i can only imagine how much better it would have performed with better shocks.

I have king's in my one, It handles great love it but I'm thinking about razing it up to fe2 the roads are %$^#ed around here and it just smashes your car around too much.
Yes is doze scrap on some speed bumps and Pain in the ass if you get a flat tyre to get the jack under and to get your car rumps.

Did they make Fe2 springs for V6 if so anyone know what the part number is ?

A VT clubby with new suspension FE2 scrapes on a lot of things! Worse than VE GTS.

Gotta love people comments like oh don't go to pedders but no reason as to why, they are knowledgeable.

Do you know if these are an exact equivalent for FE2's or are they just the same ride height but stiffer?

I dont know the height of the springs but ride quality is very good.Much better then what it was with the Pedders Low's.Dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with Pedders springs, lot of people like the way the car was sitting, but,i didnt like the "scraping" humps and d/ways etc.Had a flat on Hume, couldnt even place the jack under it without lifting it from the guard.

Here are the comp. part list..

    GMH FE2 Rears = 92048210RR

Can you inform me on what you are driving over good sir? Dead bodies?

VXII SS - FE2's - Full tank, full carload = no scraping on ANYTHING.

VXII SS - SSL's - full tank, full carload = ONLY scraped when taking speedhumps too fast and bang on, slow down a little bit and take them at an angle, no scraping.

Also you think your car's suspension is fine? Take your car, your mums, your brothers, your sisters cats car to pedders for a safety check and see how many things they pick up on. And knowledgeable? Last time I went to the local one the guy didnt even know how low coilovers could be set to.

this is one of those "lol" threads.

but i gotta agree here pedders are super shit, and way over priced.

as for SL scrapping thats a load of shit, i had super lows in my VT for ages and never hit a dam thing.

but each to there own ay.

I have just put superlows in my vx clubby, have to be really careful when pulling into servos and going over bumps. This is only the front bumper side skirts and twin 3" exhaust scraping though. I don't see how a ss or s pack bodykit would scrape on too much. As for country driving, I can hit a ford doing 70 kmh and nothing bottoms out, Monroe gt's and king's are a great combo!
