Hey guys,
Looking to reduce the drone in my new exhaust system and after a bit of research I have decided to get a hot dog welded in the rear.
Current system is a 2.5" redback cat back with just a straight pipe on the end with the middle res.
Anyway have found these two hot dogs,
Redback Hotdog Mufflers 2.5" in/out x 12" long | eBay
And
BRAND NEW REDBACK HOTDOG MUFFLER 2.5" DIA x 15" LONG | eBay
Other than the length what is the difference between these two hot dogs and which one will best suit what I'm after..? the cost isn't an issue just want to get the right one.
If it helps my car is a VX II V6 Auto
Cheers Guys
That will make fark all difference. You'll need a large barrel resi to get rid of the drone. You'd be better off buying the red back tail pipe section with muffler. I've got one on mine and the drone is very minimal.
Not correct, I had a straight pipe on the rear with alittle drone and a hotdog eliminated that
the blokes at a few different exhaust shops all said that it will reduce the drone, obviously not at the same level as a muffler but I dont want to get a muffler as I still want a little volume
I have a 2.5 inch Lukey system with extractors.
Before I put a straight pipe it was quiet but a bit of rumble.. Straight pipe it made a nice loud note but a tad droney. Hotdog took away the drone and left the nice note behind![]()
No clips but I can do one.. Warning I have a hole in the centre muffler which is getting fixed in a weeks time. So it pops when you 1st tap the accelerator at idle
Size is a bit fatter then the 2.5 inch pipe
The first one is a perforated tube hotdog, the second one looks as though it is a spiral louvre. The first one is the better one.
Yeah auto's drone bad with straight pipes.. Not sure if a hotdog will eliminate the drone completely but it will helpI will upload a video tomorrow night mate
It's just a neutral rev video not driving. Alot of your drone is heard between gear change
