Hey,
Can anyone recommend where I can get the front and rear calipers of my VT reconditioned and maybe powder coated in Brisbane if possible otherwise anywhere will do. An exchange service would be excellent. I have been searching all week and its driving me nuts. Cheers.
Yellow pages ??
Are they faulty or are you after a new look to your brakes?
Powder coating will render your calipers un-roadworthy.
I have brembo break covers which are for a V6. I own a V8 and they do not fit mine. If improving the looks of your brakes is what you were trying to do. Let me know. I would be happy to sell them on.
Yes mechanic states front left has a crack and so YES good time to replace and new look.
Hmmm... is this true. Better check it out before I purchase. Just read the VEHICLE INSPECTION GUIDELINES but could find a mention of painted/powdercoasted calipers. Will ring MR tomorrow. Thanks.
Thanks will keep in mind. Will get back to you if interested. Thanks.
Yellow pages arrives on front deck, yellow pages goes in bin.
Yeah did that. Most want calipers for a few weeks and need to send them away for powder coating. Im looking for an exchange service and why pay for make-up after mark-up when I can go direct.
Have found 2 in VIC both charging $450 + freight for front and rear remanufactured and powder coated. But now checking to see if they are deemed roadworthy in QLD due to 97bermudacalais comments. Cheers
I have just finished reading through the QLD DEPT of Transport - Light Vehicles modification codes of practice for brake components [LG2] and no mention has been made on this subject.
Then spoke with TMR and they state that spraying, 2pak or powder coating calipers is deemed to be roadworthy as long as it does not impeed in the operation of the caliper in anyway as per Holdens specifications [heating, compromise of material etc]. TMR stated that I should ring Holden and ask if this is the case.
Spoke with Holden Newstead Brisbane and they said that it does not effect the calipers and infact they spray calipers inhouse all the time. So thats good enough in my book.
97bermudacalais have you had issues with this yourself? Cheers.
You could polish them, thats what I did to my ones..
Yes, I got knocked back on powder coated calipers her in Victoria. They said that the Powder coating process effects the structural integrity of the calipers. I thought WTF & went to a different workshop and they said the same thing. So I put my crusty old ones on for rego & put my nice shiny ones back on as soon as I got home. And I haven't had a problem with them in over 2 years. I just thought you should be aware of that before your fork out motsa coin for them.

Yeh much appreciated. You know the schmuck that gets pinged for 5 kms over the limit. That’s me! So checking is good.
