Hey Guys,
A few weeks ago i noticed my airbox has an extra hole cut on the side (Passenger side), im doing the MCAI when i fly back to adelaide but i was wondering what is the general consensus on how to block this hole?
I was thinking either a piece of plastic siliconed to the outside, does anyone know if there are block off plugs available?
I googled and the searches led me no-where as not too many people are trying to cover extra holes in the airbox.
Also, through my searches on the forum, LS1.com.au and google i have found 2 ways of finishing the MCAI, the first is with 2 PVC pipes that will sit behind the headlight,
The second is a bit weird, what people are doing is running one PVC pipe to the headlight and then modifying the stock radiator intake tube and cutting it so it ends just inside the cold air shroud and then making a PVC pipe that just sits underneath it...the thought being that the original CAI will force air into the shroud....whats everyones thought on this?
bumpity bump
Brought a VS ute and it had a 5 inch hole under the air box and some flexible hose that runs to behind the front bar, but don't know if it has any effect apart from sucking heaps of dirt from the road, either that or the filter hasn't been change in a longtime?

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
maybe something like an ice-cream container lid...cut it out and glue it to the outside of the airbox...
just go mafless,
vx ss has 2 holes standard. if you going mcai maybe get the monaro airbox or a vy airbox
I have the Monaro "mcai" shroud, if you want it you can have it cheap... PM Me if you want it!
From what I understand it just hooks up to the standard airbox, and seals around the headlight.

DLFHUB666 I guess if you go mafless with an otr...Im guessing you get rid of the airbox. Maybe Im thinking of something different......not everybody is as perfect as you!
Well, mafless tune an a OTR are two totally different things. yes if he got an otr it would get rid of the airbox but you can go mafless an keep it to. As for the not being as perfect thing, dont ya hate it.

Could be right, ppl just need to explain a little better i guess? or read!, anyway I guess we're all entitled to our own opinion, going mafless otr would void the use of the airbox. If there is no airbox theres no hole.....guess thats what its got to do with it ?![]()
Your right people (you) need to explain a bit better, Becasue all you said was "go mafless" (i did read that right) an that in its self is not enough to plug a hole in the airbox.
An by the way you can go mafless an keep the airbox, an you can get an OTR an keep the MAF aswell. So you should have said something like 'get an OTR an mafless tune, this will get rid of the airbox'.
Because saying "go mafless" just dosen't make any sense at all.

Always something smart to say it appears.
