Hi guys,
I recently bought a vx v6 wagon which had a fairly serious hit to the front drivers guard and was enough to set off the drivers airbag. I only want it for the 6 month old gas tank and a few other little bits but it would be very helpful if I could get it to start and move it around my yard rather than where it is dumped on my front driveway in the way.
I have the valet key (non electronic one only) which I have left in the ignition (set to on)for over 2 hours and the light on the mode selector panel is still flashing. Does this need to be the proper electronic key anyway for this method to work? or is it keeping it enabled due to the airbag having gone off?
Any other ideas on way's to stop the immobiliser with just the valet key?
Worst case If it was a V8 I could do it with EFILive but it doesn't support the v6's. Is there a cheap tool to flash these PCM's without the VATS system?
I realise this is probably best not posted on a public forum so please PM me as I don't want to be the reason anyone's car is stolen.
witch position did you have the key in?
Im fairly sure it needs to be in the on position.
It "should" disable the PCM after roughly 45min,,
Leaving it longer could allow the PCM to re enable the immobilizer

I left it in the "On" position for 2+ hours.
I will try for a strict 45mins and then come back and watch it for the 5-10 mins folllowing that to see if it stops flashing.
It should work, i did the same with my wrecked VT, the previous owner lost the key an i used a screw driver to turn the ignition switch to the on position, then set the count down timer on my phone to 45min, when time was up i went back turned the screw driver held it in the start position then it started. (had a few second delay before it turned over)

no luck.. still flashing away across the 40-55 minute mark. Any other ideas?
Read elsewhere that the VT's are like the later VS's and need 120mins to deactivate. I tried this to and watched it 10 mins either side without a change...
Anyone else have any ideas? Cause I'm all out.
Is the battery fully charged? It won't work if it is below 11 volts.
Are you sure its the immobiliser? Don't these cars have a fuse pump cutoff when they have been in an accident.

The later model VS's had the 45 minute immobilser bypass time extended to 120 minutes.I doubt they would have gone back to 45 minutes again on the later models.
do you know the history of the car it's possible someone has already ratted parts and maybe swapped bits from another car
It has to be the immobiliser because the light is always flashing even with the ignition on and I only have the valet key.
All seems pretty complete so i don't think its been attacked for parts yet.
Guess I just strip it for what I want and sell the engine and gearbox really cheap in unknown condition.
Turns out it was nothing the winch on my 4by couldn't fix :P
Got it where I want it and don't really care if it won't start for a while now.
