Seems to be a tingy rattle coming from my cat.
Do different types affect the sound? If so what one would you guys recommend? And how much are they
Usually when a cat is making noise it's stuffed and needs replacing I'm afraid.
You should get it looked at by a good exhaust shop in your area.
Good luck...![]()
if its stuffed get a Hiflow one now you have the chance

A high flow cat will make it louder, but they are also more expensive than standard cats. Get a metal high flow and it will never rattle again, as the originals are ceramic and break up, that is what causes the rattle.
I can supply you a metal high flow cat for $195 shipped to your door.
Abba.. Might get one next week, rego is due this week =P
I had a straight pipe on the end and it kinda droned so ahotdog eliminated that... Would a hi flow cat bring back the drone as it makes the exhaust louder?
I spoke to my local exhaust shop and he said for all the high flow cats he has to modify the piping from the extractors to the cat? Wth?
did he explain why? maybe just trying to get more $$$ out of ya![]()
Probably because it needs to be welded in?
No he said it needs a new Y piece?
I thought it bolts to the extractors and catback
Get under the car and look at where the pipes go into the front of the cat. The VT-VX changed, I can't remember which way though. One has a collector and a single pipe going into the cat, the other has two pipes going into the cat. If yours has two pipes, then it will need modifying or a twin inlet cat can be fitted. They are a bit dearer, but modifying the Y pipe can be more expensive than the price difference between the two cats. A dual inlet cat is $240 shipped.
Ok I will check tonight.. So either way I can just buy the right one off you and be able to fit it up myself?
i had a look and i have 2 pipes going into the cat =/ unlucky for me
It will still need welding as the cat and front pipe assembly is all one piece. It will need welding onto the Y pipe and the flange has to be removed from the onld cat and welded to the new one.
