Hey guys I just bought some chrome door handles for the VX and im having problems.
Ive swapped the inner handle (chrome part) over and put it together with the existing factory shell (outside part) that is already painted the colour of my car. Is this what people do? or do they paint the aftermarket (outer) shell and keep it all aftermarket?
The problem is, is the aftermarket handle does not fit to well into the outer shell and catches by a 1MM or so, therefore scrapping the paint.
Any insite would be rad
aftermarket????? you didnt buy them all chrome door handles from ebay for like $90 did you?

Yep those are the ones. Not GM
Lesson one,80-90% of anything aftermarket never fits right, lines up right or does what it supposed to do. Aftermarket panels would be the worse culprit.
In regards to your door handle,if the outer shell doesnt fit right then just do what you have done & use your outer shell with the chrome insert.
If you really want the outer shell chrome you have two options. One option is to complain to the seller that the part doesnt fit right & get a replacement hoping the next ones will be better. Option two is to lightly sand the outer door handle shell, primer it then chrome paint it with the old chrome spray paint in a can
