Hey guys,
Ive searched around but couldn't find anything that relates to my problem.
VT V6 slight miss on idle. Also on light acceleration up to 25% throttle miss get a little worse.
When you get into it it clears up.
I have changed the plugs, leads are fine, coils are fine, new fuel filter and air filter is clean, MAF is fine.
Any help would be great.
Have you checked the purge hose that connects to the bottom of the throttle body sometimes this will come off and makes the engine runs rough

Nah its not rough, just that slight miss. But ill check it just in case.
The thing that the coil packs are bolted onto, that wouldnt be the problem would it?
posible air leak my vt had a craked egr pipe it had miss at idle and under light load
the EGR pipe is the steel pipe thats connected between the manifold and the exhaust headers, you might be able to hear it sucking air when the engine is on to see if thers a leak
i also have sucking noise and problem with acceleration can anybody help?
Dragon has posted some marvelous advice.
Check the two vacuum leads on your throttle body, as well as the EGR pipe.
Generally, any "sucking" sound coming from an engine that ISNT coming from your air intake is bad sign...
Get a piece of plastic hose and put one end next to your ear, then move the other end closely over all the vacuum pipes with the motor running. Any leaks will be heard through the pipe to your ear.
Plastic hose != a straw
Sometimes I don't think things through...
Anyway, what worked charms for me was one of those brightly colored plastic "noisemaker" tubes that small children swing around in circles and make deep "wooaawwooaaaww" noises with. Again, as I said, I'm an idiot.
You might have been close to the mark when you mentioned the base of the coil pack. Undo the little bolt that holds the loom plug in the base and check for corrosion or looseness or bent pins. also look at the pins under the coils themselves. Same thing, corrosion, loose etc. Give it all a clean on suspicion.
ok so i didnt find any leaks in the purge hose or the ERG pipe.
I did take a look at the plug at the base of the coil packs and the 10th (from the left) pin is missing. Would that be causing it?
Any other suggestions?
Check your harmonic balancer as the crank angle sensor works off teeth in the balancer. If the balancer is shot then at low revs and low to medium throttle the balancer will wobble, as revs increase the wobble becomes less and the CAS can get a better read. Have a look at the balancer at idle if it is really bad you should see that it looks like it wobbles or jumps around, give the car some revs and if the balancer seems to stop wobbling then its probably that
Plugs are the right gap?
yep sounds like you need a new balancer, if you are not sure then get a second opinion (recommended) and if it is the balancer it will need to be replaced
