Default VT vibration at 1500 RPM

Need help identifying a vibration and droning noise from the front of my VT S2 auto. It only happens around 1500RPM in any gear. It can be felt through the steering wheel, accelerator pedal and floor pan and only when cruising or accelerating. It instantly disappears when I remove my foot off the throttle. I'm thinking it may be the engine and/or trans mounts that need replacing. Any thoughts appreciated.

Yeah mate I'd check the mounts and that the exhaust isn't close enough to be hitting anything. Is it a standard exhaust?

Check the tailshaft bearings and universal joints too.

While you are under the bonnet, check the harmonic balancer. Is your car the early VT or VT series 2? early had steel universal joints, series 2 had rubber couplings. The steel uni's are notorious for vibration.

It's a series 2, the sump is clearing the cross member by only 3mm or so at rest. It looks like it may have been touching under load by the ware line in the sump where the cross member is. Thanks for the heads up. I'll replace the engine mounts and see what happens.
