Default Completely new to VTs. Interested in a gearbox conversion.

Alright, well, I'm more than likely getting a VT Auto to replace my old VN manual.

The auto will suffice (More or less because at least it's transport for now), but not for too long. I'd like to convert it to manual as soon as possible.

I know SFA about VTs really, so I'm gonna sound like an idiot here.

What entirely needs to be done to convert a VT Auto to Manual?
Roughly how much will it cost?
Is it a bit of a pain, or is it dead simple?

From what I've seen, it looks like there's two gearboxes, but I'm not sure.

    Thanks.

Yes there's two gear boxes, for manual they use a getrag 5 speed, and you will need to change transmission, get a clutch plate, pressure plate, fly wheel, clutch pedal box. Slave cylinder, lines, possibly a tail shaft due to the different length box, n also the interiors gear shifter Knob, if u don't no that there is 2 different gear boxes for auto manual, u won't know the slightest in doing the conversion, might coast anywhere From 1000-3000

Well, clutch plate and pressure plate, I'd get brand new. Wouldn't even bother with second hand parts for that.

Is the VT hydraulic or cable clutch? Does it run through a booster?

Do many people usually actually sell whole kits with everything included?

No offence mate, just because I'm not sure on what gearbox's are available in VTs, doesn't mean I don't know how to do the conversion. All that proves is I'm not familiar with VTs. I've done a few conversions before, and had the gearbox out in my old VN a few times. It's not like I'm gonna stick the gearbox in backwards.

The clutch is hydraulic, you can get a kit on ebay for $1500 to $2500. You will need the gearbox for your engine, V8 and V6 boxes are different.

    These guys have kits

I just did mine. You need to change computer and entire engine wiring loom. Pedal box, master and slave cylinder. Problem is that Vt comes with a dual mass flywheel which can't Be machined so you need a clutch kit plus flywheel. Thats approx 1000. Plus tailshaft. I bought my kit for 1000. But as above they go for 800-1400. Basically it cost me nearly 1800 in parts and about 3 days to change. And I got lucky because mine already had been converted to a solid flywheel.
