My guess would be the pellets that Holden recommend you use when you flush and refill the coolant.
Mine was all brown and sludgy in the over flow tank and under the radiator cap.

When was the car last serviced?

Hi i have the same issuies with brown sticky stuff under my radiator cap and in resev, tank ,removed tank and cleaned it up also replaced cap on the radiator and now not much off it but was told a heavy duty radiator flush out is the way to go run the motor with themo out heater on for 15 mins then run it out and top it up with new cooling bleed the system so no air blocks all good now .
