Hey All,
Looking for a bit of advice, I have a VX series 1 wagon, V6 auto. I noticed the carpet was wet on the front passenger floor. Lifted it up and the foam padding underneath is soaked. So I've kept it covered in the carport, turned the A/C off to try and work out where it was coming from. It hasnt been out in the rain, nothing drips on to your feet. I've tried to eliminate everything. Now last weekend I took it for a drive, no rain, no a/c on, and I noticed that a few days later the floor was all wet. I dont drive it too much so it wasnt used in those few days.
Now I'm assuming it's a heater core and from what I've read it's a cheap part, but a heck of a job. My question is though, the inlet/outlet pipes are on the driver's side of the firewall. I'm getting no water on the driver's side floor. The water on the passenger side is a hefty amount. I guess I just want to make sure it is the heater core before I pull the dash out, but I'm confused as to why its on the passenger floor and not the driver's.
Can anyone tell me, is there a drainage pipe or whether the run off from the heater box runs to the passenger side which would explain why I'm getting it on passenger side?? Or if I'm off the mark, give me some other suggestions?? I've ruled out aerial, door seals and drainage channels. I dried it all before I drove it, and it didnt rain at all over that period.
Cheers guys.
