    Default is this pinging?

Done 10psi pulley upgrade full service and now my engine seems to ping and my exhaust manifold glows red. If you put the foot down on it it's like an empty milk bottle getting scrapped across the road. Or like a whole heap of them dragging under the car. Only use 98 unleaded and even tried octane boost in the last 2 tank. Still does it. Any ideas? Cheers can I get it tuned to run right on fuel? If so anybody know of cost. It's a VT s/c v6

It sounds like it's something worse than it pinging, I may be wrong though.

If your manifolds glowing red, your running extremely lean. To the point where engine destruction is more than just possible. It's inevitable.

Could it be the Maf sensor throwing everything out? Putting a 82 degree thermostat in Tomoz. Hofully that cools the motor a bit. IRS not overheating though.

Just because the dash doesn't say overheating doesn't mean the combustion process is too hot. If your manifold is glowing than it is WAY too hot.

The thermostat won't change anything, there is something seriously wrong with your engine, get it looked at before you engine dies.

And yes it could be the MAF. There is a strong possibility that the ECU will be throwing up some codes, check them out.

Getting mike at TTT performance to run it on the dyno tomorrow. Drives great other than this. If you drive normal it does too. Might fill it up and go pro strength octane this time in it.

last time i heard of glowing exhaust is was because of a blockage in the cats...i'm sure there are other ways, like the ones already mentioned, but i'm not an expert on that one

BUT, pinging (detonating) is very discrete and apparently not many people can hear it. But it sounds like throwing gravel at your bonnet, just really quietly lol. And obviously can be disastrous lol. I had that, and was confirmed when I had my engine rebuilt. But that was coz my pistons rings were pretty much fried haha
