Hi there, im interested in maybe dropping in either a 12mm plenum spacer or a 25mm manifold insulator.
at the moment i only feel like doing one of the two, and my mate got a fair bit more low end power out of this mod.
I was just wondering out of these two, which will give me the most difference? ( MORE POWER)
and the 25mm plenum is for Supercharged or turbo's and will possibly decrease throttle response am i correct?
Lastly what would be better out of: either of these mods and a memcal?
Cheers, hopefully this makes sense :S
Darcy,

The 25mm plenum is for forced induction ones ect, personaly the plenum one didnt do much for my old vs v6, mainly the manifold one, i dont think it gives u more power as such, more of brings the tourqe down lower in the rev range, someone will be able to confirm it more for you tho, persoanlly id just go the 25mm manifold one
thanks heaps mate, and yer i was thinking to go that way![]()
And yer i didnt really use the right word when i said power, i meant basically low end torque but yer, you get me haha sorta? :P
Thanks for that mate![]()

i love the sound of it down under around 1700rpm :P do any of the above notes improve your exhaust note? or is that a myth?

In regards to ideal spacer combo's Trayner has perfectly summed it up well
In your case if you already have a 12mm manifold insulator I wouldn't worry about upgrading to a 25mm item (unless you wanted the best possible gains), instead sticking with the 12mm plenum spacer.Originally Posted by Trayner
well depends , are you ever going to supercharge your car?
If your going to stay N/A
go
- MACE 25mm Manifold Insulator
- MACE 12mm Plenum Spacer
and other way for supercharged
Hope this helps
Cheers,
Steve
Here you go man
thanks for thati'm not sure if i'll get it or not, unless i find out its actually a noticable gain off a few people then i might
but thankyou very much for your insight.

if that's the only thing your fitting then wont be much diff between the two, but in combo with exhaust/cai ,Throttle body and perhaps cam or rockers and a tune then it will help!
yer at this stage i'm not really wanting to spend big $$$ on performance, but just want a little bit more low end torque. But thanks for your help![]()

I fitted the 12mm plenum, 25mm manifold insulator and the mace CAI. also have a 2.5inch red back with resi and a corvette servo and I've noticed a reasonable diff. Because I installed both spacers at the same time I can't really tell you the main diff. Big thing I noticed at first was throttle response...lost alot of that ecotec lag. But I'd go with the manifold insulator mate, that's where I really noticed the magic.
with corvette servo get adaptive shift disabled so shift in 1-2 stays good![]()
thanks heaps and yer my mate got his done and today we were comparing the lag off a quick burst on the accel haha mine was terrible and he's was good as, probably helped that he cleaned out the s*** in his plenum as well haha but yer i think the insulator is the way to goThanks heaps everyone
