Default Heater/aircon Vents randomly opening and closing VT

    Hi,

I have a VT with climate control which has an issue.
With the climate contol in manual mode, as I drive for some reason the vents just switch from screen, face/legs randomly.
I have since discovered that when I accelerate, it switches to the windscreen.
When I'm cruizing or deccelarating it switches to the face/ legs vents which is what the controls are set at .

Im thinking its obviously vacuum related but what part of the aircon/heater box could be faulty?

    Cheers, Archie.

A common problem is that the thin vacuum hose which connects at the rear of the intake manifold has come off or is loose, or the one way valve on the hose is not working. If that is ok then it might be the vacuum solenoid pack.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

    Thanks, I tried your solution.
While there was a problem with a loose fiting vac hose at the manifold which I fixed,
that only made the vents operate more quickly with prejudice where before they where taking
about 5 sec to switch. The one way valve tested OK.

However this hasnt fixed the main problem of the vents alternating with the varying engine vacuum.

Where is the vacuum solenoid pack located on the aircon box?

    Thanks

It could be your mode actuators.
There are two of them located in the middle under the cd player.

Make sure the vacuum lines are connected properly.

    They look like this:

These pics and details are from a Vz but I'm pretty sure it's the same setup on the vt vx Vy Vz. Sometime the actuators are black.

    Cheers
    Dave.

There a bit tight to get to but accessed by removing the passenger and drivers side middle kick panel trim if thats what we can call them. Lol

Open ur globebox and undo two screws on the right of the glovebox and there will be a third on the other side of the trim near the seat. (push seat all the way back and up to expose. )

For the driver side drop ur lid to get to the fuses and again there should be a couple of screws to remove the panel.

They are directly under the headunit.

Check that all 4 colored hoses are connected.

If they are it may be that the actuator itself if busted.

    Cheers
    Dave.

I got a quote for my solenoid pack which was $160 ( I think VT is more exy than later models). Tried to clean it out as I have spent heaps on suspention stuff at the moment. Still got issues So I will be looking at the actuators today.

    Thanks for your replies.

I changed vacuum solenoid pack, didnt fix the problem.
I also changed one on the actuators(the foot actuator) no change either.

However after looking at a VT hose diagram I realised it showed the orange hose into the back of the
actuator, but my car has the orange hose in to side of the actuator.

    Which is the correct way?
