Just sayin'.... I just pee'd a little!!! haha!!!!
most vt's I think series 2 and up dont have memcals , Correct me if im wrong
wasnt the vu ute released after vt so it will have VX ecu which has no memcal
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Contact a performance place, theres no memcal, ur pcm (computer) needs flash tuning
What state r u in?
im in nsw.yeh i was told that they have no memcal, i also herd the vu computer cant be tuned? thats just what i red in a post.would it be easier just to find a vt wiring harness and getting a vt ecu and using my memcal? i bought the package from mace engineering, would they have pre tuned vx ecu for vx onwards cam packages? or dont they do packages for the vx onwards? thanks
I wldnt have a clue, give this guy a buzz, hes been tuning cars for over 10yrs, his names al and hel answer any question u have! 0408943730
Wat size cam hav u put in?
Al gibbs, from wa, go for it.. Oh nicewld be awes to see how it goes on the dyno! I got a vy v6 manual ute lol goes pretty hard
Wickedwld have been worth changin ur timing gear while u were dwn there too.. R u gonna do ur heads or?
Mines got dual catback with a knocked out cat, pacemaker headders, stage 3 cam, a little headwork and tune puts out 210rwhp.. Next is intake, throttle body, diff gears n maffless tunealready beats the tickford xr8s

I got mine from america, its a stage 2 over there but identical to the stage 3 here, their stage 3 is massive! Look up intense racing in google.. I found it pretty easy, stalled a few times, but, theres a screw on ur throttle body u can adjust so the idol speed increases.. Just a quick fix til u tune it! Wen u get heads dun make sure the port n match em
There it is again...
and i put stage 2 in thats biggest you ccan get for vt biggest? in what way? longer duration, higher lift, what? stage 2.. sounds like rocket boosters?

Guys not knocking your knowledge at all. Especially when it comes to the original question about memcals, my knowledge of engines is strong right up until carbies went out of fashion, after that I am lost. I get experts to play with my cars computer/s.
But if I had a buck for every time I have heard 'stage 2 cam' I could probably afford to buy one of my own.
The word 'Stage' is meaningless, without more info. Again, I am out of date, but I am willing to bet that a 'Stage 2' Crane is nothing like a 'Stage 2' Wade or Crow or Camtech or Watson or .... you get the idea.
I can see that phatskidz bought his package from Mace, so its a Crow I assume. Mace will have chosen cams suitable for his packages, so he has a particular cam for each of their packages.
So heres an example of what Mace offers...
Stage-1 Kit: Improved Torque and Economy Towing:
Our stage-1 kit contains a new camshaft and MEMCAL; providing a power gain of 15% between 1000 and 5000rpm.
Perfect for towing, normal driving, and highway cruising.
Stage-2 Kit: Improved Mid Range Power Touring?
Our stage-2 kit contains a new high-performance camshaft and MEMCAL. We recommend this kit be used in conjunction with a free-flowing exhaust system for maximum performance.
This package provides a maximum power gain of 20% between 1500 and 6000rpm. This increase has been achieved without sacrificing any noticeable low-end torque or drivability.
Stage-3 Kit: Improved Top End Power High Performance kit:
This kit contains a new stage-3 camshaft, MEMCAL and valve springs. This camshaft kit must be used in conjunction with a twin cat exhaust system for maximum performance.
With another companies package, all 3 cams will probably have completely different profiles than the cams Mace have chosen for their package. Stage 1, 2, 3 and 27 all mean nothing without further info.
Again, not having a go at you. Just saying if you are going to describe these things, do it properly![]()
It equals comp stage 3
Stage 2 intense racing cam =
Duration @ .50" 222/224
Valve lift 539/523
Lsa 112
Intake centreline 108
Couldnt agree more dakster, sounds like its a progressive thing, "well i finally made it to a stage two cam, cant wait until it grows into a stage 3" last time i made it to stage 3 I died when a walking turtle duck thing hit mario. then i had to start back at stage one.
The terminology is an offspring of the need for speed generation of car modification. You know, you win some races get some money buy a stage one performance pack, win some more races get more money, get a stage two performance pack. the terminology is redundant in real life.
The cam going into my L67 has the follow specs.
212°/224° at .050"
Intake Lift .325" (.520" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
Exhaust Lift .335" (.536" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
116 LSA
and it will be tuned by a tuner, no memcal will ever get the full benefits of a good cam. just take it to a tuner, and fork out the dollars. You will be happy you did in the end.
VT V6 fitted with DMS gold 40mm coilovers, Whiteline adjustable swaybars & strut brace, 330mm AP racing brakes, Rebuilt 3.45:1 LSD and a Powerdyne supercharger

10k fine for 3-4hp hmmm sounds like someone has money to burn
Yeah mate, just like u block off ur egr valve to stop fkin ur engine, no cops carry the testing equipment and, saves spendin big $$ on exhaust
Vu are just the ute version of the vx and no their is no memcal for them they must have the custom tune flashed onto them. Mace dont currently have a tune available for vu/vx. Just take it somewhere to get tuned...although you'll prob have to get it done again down the track depending on future mods. You could just install a vt ECU and then run the memcal.
