WH Statesman indicator problems

I'm having a problem with my WH statesman, very rarely (mostly when the car is cold I've noticed) when I flick my indicators on (either left or right) they make a very bizzare screeching noise, and the lights for them don't flash on the dash nor do they work on the outside of the car, but apon switching my hazards on and off everything is back to normal again. Anyone have a similar problem? or knows what's going on?

Ive had it happen before it turned out to be the indicator stalk/switch was stuffed and wasnt quite switching all of the way

Ohh that's not to bad then, so I just need to replace the indicator stalk you reckon?

Yup, that should fix it.
I've seen this problem often, even to the point of shorting out & smoking so attend to it asap!

Hope it all works out Matt, my problem is with the cover's on both front indicators on a 2007 WM Holden Statesman. The covers were replaced in 2009 due to spider cracking of the covers which in turn caused condensation and now the same thing has happened again. Any one else having this problem or know how to fix it?
