    Default drive belt issue

i got a 97 vt and just had a new power steering pump put in as the old one was whining and on deathrow. upon replacement and putting the drive belt back on it is now loose. the pulley seems ok. can the drive belt stretch out?

    How loose are we talking?

These have an automatic tensioner on them.

really loose. the automatic tension has sprung back to position and seems ok but the belt is loose as if it has been stretched

Did you use the same pulley on the pump or did the new pump come with a pulley, if the pulley is new is it the same size.
Is it possible that the belt has not been put on in the correct sequence.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
