hey everyone, i recently brought a 01 vx commodore v6 manual. there has been nothing done to it, not even an exhaust.
i want to do it up but need to know what are some good mods. keep in mind they need to be P plate legal, so no super chargers or turbo chargers.
CAI, 12mm Plenum Spacer, 25mm Manifold Insulator, High Ratio Roller Rockers, 2.5" Catback.
That should do it. :P probably something I've missed though
Sell it and buy a SS. Best mod you will ever make.

Cams, lifters, cylinder heads, full exhaust, cai, twin throttle intake, change of diff ratio, Plenum spacer ,manifold insulator, larger throttle body/maf sensor/intake piping,
81*C Thermostat, Stroker kit (might as well go full rebuild if you're going to go that far). And to finish it all off go and get it tuned to run on 98 octane and you're all set to go.

3.9 gears LSD, 1.9 rockers, exhaust, intake and tune. thatll set u back close to 3k
To the OP, there's no point trying to get any decent amount of power from your "emotec"
And don't worry I have a manual 6 VX as well. The only thing I'd be prepared to do would
be a full exhaust, a good lowering job and a decent audio setup.

Exactly p plate legal mods. Im shore he would rather a v8. But there isnt anything you can do about it...

or we could do up an excel and put 20's on it and paint it bright orange with a huge exhaust....

A cam and some diff gears with exhaust and CAI would get you going nicely. Don't listen to anyone who says your wasting your time modding a 6, as long as you can afford it making you car more enjoyable to drive is well worth it as far as im concerned. After all, you drive it every day and stuff driving a grandpa spec car for 4 years until your off P's.
L67 conversion, apply for an exemption first. If not keep it quiet with factory exhaust. They fit exemption requirements stock. Once exempted then go for the mods.
Note what the OP asked, i gave him some options. Not everyone can afford to put an 8 on the road and maintain it. Personally i have a mortgage and bills left, right and centre. So no i can't afford to have a pissing contest every other day with some fool at the lights. Save your comments for a "should i buy a v6 or a v8" thread.

are we still talking about the op? if he could afford to do then he could more than afford a ls1! but he wants it to be p plate legal, there arent too many things you can do to keep a car legal, most of us dont worry. so as someone else suggested above, nice rims, superlows, exhaust, k&n panel filter.
He asked what were some good mods, he didn't state what his budget was. And as for legalities, he can look up this sort of information if he's concerned. Or use the search function of this forum.

yep.. im with the v8 fans... want performance.. get a v8..
When i bought my VE SS MY10 SS ute it was only 4k difference for the SV6 and the SS... was an easy choice.. espec when i got in it to drive the 8...
the 6 is just gutless..
and below the VE's i wouldnt touch anything that wasnt an 8... id even rather a 5.7 over a 5.0
do you ppl read thigs properly when other ppl write they are p platers and that they cant have a v 8 or do you just keep going on that they should not waste their money and get a v8 because you are morons. every one knows a v8 would be better but if they cant have it they cant have it jeez
