VU Maloo running rough

Hey guy's need some thoughts, i've got and ls1 VU malo, its running a bit rough at the moment, its backfiring at low rpm when taking off then clears itself when driving normally, under WOT though its not running crisply in terms of sounds like its
missing slightly at higher rpm under load, i've replaced the leads with MSD units cause they were looking a bit manky, it seemed to make a decent improvement for a short period of time then back to the same problem, im about to replace the plugs with a new set to see if this makes a difference, am i on the right track or is there something else that could be going on? cheers for any info

very interested on how you go mate, my 5.7 has just started feeling a bit like its missing or loss of power under wot. yeah your on the right track with plugs first.

maybe check leads are on tight both ends, on the coils they click on twice (so push on once then it will click then try again and it should click again)
