Hey guys so I've good a 4spd Auto VX and my brother recently offered me a 6 speed manual gearboxwith everything for the conversion my question is not what I need or how to do it that's an easy part but rather I have an LS1 5.7ltr 6 speed manual sitting in the shed with all the parts already their but can't install until September next year
( p plate laws), so in short I want to know will my brothers 6 speed gearbox from an SS fit in my V6 without to much of an alteration? and if it can should I keep this gearbox for the LS1 conversion? or should I just wait until next year when the V8's put in?? The reason I ask is because I'm sick of getting out of my daily runner (manual) and taking the VX for a cruise and always searching for the clutch and gears plus it would be twice as fun if it was a manual already!!
Cheers

After thinking about screw I'll just get a getrag 5 speed installed until I can put the v8 (6 speed) in so I'll just change my diff etc at that time instead of wasting all the money to put the 6 speed in the ecoshit box.

Firstly, I could be wrong but if you’re talking about a 6spd from a LS1/5.7/346ci.... I don't think it would fit the V6 bell housing and not without some modification/special setup.
Secondly... You answered your own question.
Thirdly... Punctuation dude, it helps us here on JC understand you a little easier.![]()
Yeah I figured an 6 speed LS1 gearbox in a V6 is too much work especially when I've got the full deal sitting in the shed with the 6 speed already there just waiting to be fully licensed.
And yes when I rumble I tend to forget to speak English
And in answering my own question I tend to do that alot considering I already knew the complications
But in saying that I hate the getrag gearbox and didn't want to have to consider it.
I answered the question then thought f**k it I'll just wait the year after all it's not my daily driver and comes in appearance once a month or so... plus a big 6 speed LS1 is way more exciting then a 6 speed V6![]()

Yeah man, just wait it out, not worth it when you have that v8 waiting for you.
50LTRv8
Yeah that's the intelligent idea and saves $$$ for bigger and better things.
I'll just have to coach myself to remember the brakes not the clutch lol and go down to drive instead of going up into park looking for 1st![]()
it's just a habit I have to remember I don't need to use when in the VX, well that is until September![]()

and the after market clutches are so annoyingly loud. You'd be looking at around $2,500 at least for a dual mass fly wheel so you have a dampener.
