Default water leaking from around the water pump

just had the inlet manifold seals changed and when the cooling system was pressure tested water leaks from around the pump or water by pass hoses my mechanic wants $50 just to find the problem i think it would be cheaper just to replace all the seals around there myself any advice?

I might add that the engine is a 5 litre v8

Try tightening the clamps on the two heater hoses. They need to be really tight otherwise they leak. Also have a look at the hole in the bottom of the water pump. If it's leaking from there, the water pump seal is on its way out and you need to replace the water pump before the bearings seize. The other point to be made is that your mechanic would have removed the water pump and other hoses when he replaced the inlet manifold seals. It's his responsibility (free of charge) in the first instance to make sure it's nothing that he did that's causing the leak. I would seriously consider finding a new mechanic if that's his attitude.

I don't think they would have removed the pump, the hoses maybe

id replace the pump mate, a slow leak it is "ok" for now but overtime the pressure will build up and blow your pump. be on the save side.
