    Default Vt front strut trouble

Hey guys, can n e one let me know how to undo the strut bolts from a series 2 vt? It has a big nut that turns everything, and a little 10mm one above that .. Ill try upload a photo....

Also, the sway bar link wouldnt come out last night, I couldnt move the sway bar down... I only had one side jacked up though, im guessing if I have the whole front end on stands, and I undo the bottom bolt on both sides, the bar should rotate down... Is that correct?

You use the 10mm spanner to stop it from turning while undoing the big nut. I hope you will be using spring compressors or it could be dangerous.

Just make sure you dont round off that 10mm top on the strut.
If you cant get the link off, just do it with the car on the ground, its a bit tricky to get your hand behind the wheel but doable, if you dont have stands.

Undoing that top nut hasn't got anything to do with the springs though does it? I thought that's just the mounting nut for the struts, after you take the struts out you then undo the other nut and that's when you use the spring compressors.

Leave the car on the ground, the weight of the car will hold it still so it will come undone. It will feel like the whole lot is starting to turn, but then it will come undone. Remove it completely, then crack the nut underneath it as well.

If you are fitting lowered springs, you can remove the second nut as well, then lift the car slowly until the weight is off the springs. I have never used spring compressors on a VT-VZ when fitting low springs.

To answer the last question, the top nut just holds the strut in the car when it is jacked up.
