I recently bought a vt series 2 (2000 model) and had it all serviced etc etc... when i got home from the mechanics i oped the hood to check the oils and noticed that there was water leaking near brake master cylinder , draining down toward the battery. the leak is miner but it i leaking. i noticed there is a couple hoses there connected to the heater tap next to the leak. is it most likely to be the heater tap and do they commonly play up ????? i need this problem fixed !!! Thank you.
Go back to the mechanic and ask the WTF, was not like that when dropped off.....If no love there......Try to tighten hose clamps, and/or add another clamp. If the water is dripping from connection the most likely some lasy mechanic has been leaning on it while doing the service, may have cracked the join behind hose....Then you have to solder fix or replace.........hopo you have some luck should be fairly easy fix

yeh that makes sense he must have lent on it while filling up the transmission with oil, thanks for the help
Just be careful when tightening the hose clamps because the tap is made of plastic and becomes very brittle with age.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I just replaced a VT heater tap on saturday. It was leaking coolant and was so brittle that it snapped in my hands when I tried to get the hoses of.
It was only $40 for a gates heater tap from supercheap and pretty easy to DIY.
+1 for this. Its a very easy job to do yourself, mine was cracked inside the hose and the tap just snapped off because it was so brittle.
Got a new one from Autobarn for $30, drop your coolant, replace tap, replace coolant, job done.
Took about an hour cos the tap was a bit of a bugger to get out.
Oh dont forget to bleed the system after replacing coolant!
