    Default Help finding a LS1

Hi guys, just trying to help my brother find the best way to go with slaping another motor in his VT.
The current motor has 230,000k`s seems ok but the lifters are getting worse and not much can be done with it with that many k`s or so the dyno place tells him.
what he want is to cam it with abit of head work daily driver and the odd street race(Not sure just going off what he said)
Anyway heres afew choices ive come up with,
    1) Rip the motor outta the car and start rebuilding it himself
    2) Grab another motor from the wreckers with low k`s and put the goodies in it he wants
    3) Find a engine performance shop that can supply him with a already built motor with the goodies done to it

He has a budet of $5500 . anyone able to drop some opinion`s and or list afew places that can supply a good engine cam package
    Cheers

well for $5900 his budget is blown

I would rebuild it, I would think it would be around that 5500 mark with cam if he can do most of the work himself e.g remove/replace engine

But if he's gonna rebuild it he might as well stroke that

Better the devil he knows IMO. If it's cam and lifters + tune he will have change from $5k and a very quick car to boot.

whats wrong with 230,000kms? mine has 280,000 and has copped a hiding between summernats, motorvation, wednesday night drags etc and has no issues, as long as you service it often it should be fine
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
