Done an oil change in my Caprice today.
Before i removed the old oil i purchased some Liqui-Moly Engine Detox (A good engine flush treatment).
So I ran the detox through the oil for around 30 - 40 mins to get rid of all that sludge & carbon etc.
Drained the oil & changed the oil filter Z160.
Put in some fresh LSA 5w-30 fully synthetic engine oil.
Drove to work today everything sweet. Work is about 40KM's away & its 98% (approx) 110K zone.
So on the way home after work i realised that the yellow/orange engine light was lit up on the dash.
Does anyone know what that engine light means when it is on?
it could be the oil pressure switch i have had a ls1 do this before. personaly as a mechanic i would not recomend the use of oil flush i have found it dose more harm than good in realy bad oil sludged engine's. oil change every 3000km is a better way to remove sludge
well i wasnt too sure if there was a lot of oil sludge as i only recently purchased the car.
since i wanted to take care of her, I decided that the engine needed a good detox so that all the old crud can be expelled.
So i want to start looking after her a little now (not saying that the previous bloke didnt).
Anyhow the oil seems really clean & i will monitor it over the next few weeks.
I still cant work out why the damn engine light is on.
To find out what code(s) has been logged when the engine light came on you will need a compatible scan tool but the oil pressure sensors are a very common fault on the LS1, I just replaced mine for the third time.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Today the engine light was fine (going to work), i decided to be a little bit of a bogan & leave slideways from work & what do you know the engine light came on again. Don't know what it could be (damn it).
