hey guys, had my new vt since june and no major problems with it. checked the oil before i left work today and it was almost down to the add line. drove home and topped up about two litres to get it to full. just wondering where the oil could be going? theres no oil in the cooling system, none leaking out the bottom (yet :P) it doesnt blow smoke when i start in the morning or when cold. really stumped as to where it could be going.
when i did change the oil about 2.5k ago i noticed the sump plug was seaping a bit, and after i changed the oil it was still seaping but i cant see any oil there anymore. hope to hear some feedback.
cheers.
VT's do have leaking issues, especially if they have decent kms on them.
Check rocker covers, rear seal are both very common places. Combine that with it burning a little oil, you'd probably explain it.
So far as I can tell with mine it's going... lots of places... but it's done a lot of kms.

When I light the nitro on my HQ 454 Monroe!
check your PCV hoses and filtered air intake for blockages and sludge , common for the valve stem seals to go hard and burn more oil too
Did you change the washer on the sump plug.
If this does not get changed regularly it can cause the oil to leak.
You can buy it from holden comes with the sump plug and washer.
Check rocker cover gaskets,sump
If it's the sump or rear main leaking that amount of oil, then you will have BIG patches of oil under the car, even if you've only parked for an hour. Not saying it isn't them, but my son's VT was leaving large spots on the driveway when his rear main and sump were leaking. Maybe burning a fair bit of oil, tried a thicker viscosity?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
