just wondering if anyone has any ideas on why my nieces vt is shuddering on acceleration with sort of a flat spot.she said the car idles ok but the temperature rose while sitting at lights but then went down again.could it be the fuel pump?
If by shuddering you mean missing, then it is probably due to a bad spark plug or lead (more likely a lead). If it is more of a vibration thing, then a worn or broken engine mount is most likely the cause.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Not sure about the over heating. Check oils and coolent. Hoses for leaks. With the shudder might be coil pack.
My car is doing the same, my comment is underneath. I got told its misfiring so i nd to change the plugs and leads. Easy to do and not expensive
mine was doing that shuddering under take off and in overdrive found out the the leads that go behind the alternator had been worn through. replaced them and all good now
Shuddering, spark plugs and leads, check the coil pack too.
Temperature, how high did it go? Check coolant level ASAP either way.

When I light the nitro on my HQ 454 Monroe!
a faulty fuel pump wont cause the car to make the temp rise. get a pressure test done, and see if you can find some leaks before you cause some damage.
but id replace your leads and spark plugs will most likely fix that problem.
