Thermo fans & Air con....

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny what my air con guy told me the other day. Had it regassed and he said that my thermal fans cut out all the time. I checked, when the car isn't moving, they stay on no worries, however once I start driving, at about 50kms/hr or so, they cut off until I slow down again, say come up to a set of lights.

Is this normal? He seems to think that they should be on ALL the time, no matter what. And apparently this can cause a coolant leak as the pressure in the system is not kept constant because of the temp fluctuations from the thermo fans not coming on and keeping it cool. Sounds like a crok to me, but just want to check.

With the A/C on both fans should run on low speed and if the engine reaches 104 degrees they will both operate on high speed. So he is right.

remove your bonnet, set your cruise control and climb out and look

You can't really, you can only pull over every now and then and check.
