Default VT SS 5.0 starting issues

Ok, intermittantly it will kick over about 7-10 times before it finally starts. Usually after its been sitting for a while. When it does finally start it back fires through the throttle body then chugs and stinks like fuel out the exhaust.

It runs absolutely flawlessly after it starts.

I replaced the injectors with brand newies thinking it was a leaky injector, but no fix.

    Any ideas?

Not yet. Next time it wont start i'll check for spark. Just seems weird that it only does it at start. Runs perfect all day long when its running.

See this is the thing. I got my mate to put his scanner on it and it came up with slip ring fault. At first i thought maybe without the code going to the BCM it would just kick over with injectors pulsing but no ignition. Apparently if its the slip ring the starter wont turn over...

I just dont get why it drives perfectly after its started but it coughs and splutters when it starts. Itrs definately full of fuel, i can smell it out the exhaust.

Fuel reg maybe? Would have thought it wouldnt drive too well if the reg was stuffed.

    Ok lol, this is stupid.

Yesterday the wife called me saying the car wont even turn over. Not even the reds were on.

I got there put the key in and switched the ignition and the reds came on. She said the reds didnt come on before.

I click it to start, it clicks once then the power for the whole car shuts off lol.

Im thinking it must be the main fuse in the engine bay. I check it and it looks fine. Change it with another and it starts! Change it back to the old one just to check and it didnt start. Changed it back to the new one again and it still didnt start again lol.

By this time im checking under the fuse panel for loose terminals while the ignition is on to see if i can get something. Nothing.

I move my hand over to grab a spanner and my hand bumps the battery cable lol. Everything comes on.

Friggin battery terminal came off. Everytime i moved the fuse panel the terminal must have just touched but didnt except all the current to start.

Anyway, put the terminal back on and now it starts properly lol! No flooding or anything

All it was was the friggin terminal loose.

Check your battery terminals regulary lol.

Don't you hate it when there is an annoying problem which ends up being such a simple stupid issue....I know exactly how it feels dude

Glad you got it sorted out.

I always get tricked into thinking somethings alot bigger, check all the main things, then check the fuses....realise after 2 hours of taking things apart and testing/checking....the fuse was blown.

    Fail.
