Hi
I have just purchased a 2000 VT Olympic spec Commodore. An owners manual was not included and I want to reset the trip odometer but cannot work out how to do it.
Also, does anyone know where I can download the manual from? I tried a Google search but had not luck.
Press the up and down arrow to reset while on the trip window
If you go to your local Commodore wreckers they should have spare handbooks and will possibly give you one .
pretty sure there's a user manual on pirate bay
Press mode to cycle through to Trip Distance.
Then press the up and down arrows at the same time, this will reset it to zero.

Thanks. Also found that distance to go counter. Not sure how useful that will be, but we will see.
The distance to empty?
Be cautious in trusting it, Commodore fuel gauges are the least reliable measurements on the planet lol. That said it does get more accurate with time, but if your driving habits change it can become unreliable.

Resurecting a slightly decaying thread, I have decided to build myself a car computer based around the $US25 Raspberry Pi computer. It will have sat nav, be the media player playing through the existing stereo head unit and will also have a trip copmuter function, taking pulses from an injector and the speedo feed. However, I discovered this last week that the speedo feed is 3 percent out so I will need to get a speedo correction kit. I know it is not much but it will skew the petrol consumption figures.

Why not base it off GPS speed. Your speedo will be out 1-2% when your tyres are fully worn too.... My VT Berlina with factory 3 window dash display tells me I have used 68.42 liters of fuel yet the bowser clicks off at 61 liters and I struggle to squeeze another 2 liters in. You're never going to get anything fully accurate.

It is much easier to have the computer count the number of pulses coming off the speedo sensor than trying to pull information from the GPS. I think the dash mounted ones that come with the cars use the voltage from the fuel sender unit, which can vay with the slope of the ground you are going over. The voltage change as the fuel tank empties is not linear, so the amount of fule used to crate the drop from full to 3/4 is more than the fuel used to go from 1/2 to 1/4.
By using the pulse from the injectors I can get a much more accurate idea of fuel usage rather than having the calculated range vary depending on the slope of the ground the car is on.

When I fuel up the VX gives me 75L remaining on cop mode; yet after 2 clicks (my standard refuel...) the MOST I have ever put in is about 62 L.
I'm pretty sure the VX has a 72L tank.

That's because, unless you have run out of fuel on the side of the road, and then filled it up to the brim - you have never actually filled up the tank. Even on dead empty, theoretically the car will have several litres left, it's somethign in the order of 7L at "E".
It's a 75L tank, all the standard sedans have the same until the VE - which has a 73L tank.

i read somewhere that they have a 75l tank but 10L is reserved for the cooling of the fuel pump so you will only have access to 65L dont no how true it is thou
when my fuel light comes on, I still have 20L left. I know this because, when i fill it up i only get 50/55L in the tank.
I wounder if Holden could change this with the Tech 2 scan tool they have?????
so it only beeps when 7/10L was left?

I drove to work the other day, 30 minutes, about 30km, half highway, with the fuel light on, and the needle at the E, got to work and half-way back, to favored servo, with no problems.
But going by my dash, in service windows, my car runs on hopes and dreams.
In this pic I still had 5 minutes drive to work.

The VT fuel gauge is the most unreliable means of measurement on the planet bar none. Physically all the tanks do in fact have 75L, how close you get to that, depends on your balls. The closest I pushed it was 69.5ishL to full. Best thing you can do is get to know your car as to how much it has left. Personally, I usually fill mine up at about 1/4 of a tank, which for me is roughly 15-20L left.
