Hi everyone I have a vt ss gen 3 and the gearbox is acting weird a couple of things is happening
1. in drive with my foot flat will rev right out to 6000 before it changes and will sometimes go onto the limiter but when driving normal it is fine
2. If I use the gears eg 1 2 3 first to second is not to bad but when I go from second to 3 it will not change and I have to put it into drive to change up..
Has recently had service on trans. And no fault code is coming up any ideas on what it could be?? Really stumped..
Does it have an edit?
What to u mean an edit..??
A tune(mafless)
Na it doesn't has the ss big mouth induction..
If it did have an edit would that mess with the gearbox..
It "can" do.Not always though.
Ok fair enough I don't think it is that the only thing that does come up with a fault code is the sensors that go into the exhaust. But don't think that would do anything to the trans..
Don't drive it with 1,2,3 thats what i got told when my transmission was rebuilt after it exploded, you can do it from a standing start occasionally but never change down while driving along.
Having said that, do you drive with the power button on or off? on should let it rev out more before changing.
Yeah nah I don't but from stand still if I go first to second is not to bad but 2nd to 3 will just not change but doesn't matter if I have power on or off still revs out very high.. And sometimes hits the limiter.
Could be Tps?
Ok what is the tps and how do I test that or do u have to just buy another one?? I am new to all this electronic stuff..
Might be easier just to buy a new one. Not sure what they cost for a Gen III. Simple to replace - instructions below:
THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR
REMOVE
1. Remove engine dress cover.
2. Depress the power steering reservoir retaining clip and lift it up on the reservoir and set aside.
3. Unbolt and remove the power steering reservoir mounting bracket.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the TP sensor (1).
5. Remove the TP sensor attaching screws (2).
6. Remove the TP sensor and O-ring (3).
REINSTALL
1. Install the TP sensor O-ring seal on to the TP sensor.
2. Install the TP sensor on the throttle body with the throttle valve in the closed position.
NOTE: Ensure the TP sensor lever lines up with the TP sensor drive lever on the throttle shaft.
3. Install the TP sensor attaching screws and tighten to the specified torque.
4. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the power steering reservoir mounting bracket.
6. Install the power steering reservoir to mounting bracket.
7. Install engine dress cover.
TP SENSOR ATTACHING SCREWS TIGHTENING TORQUE 2 Nm (18 lb/in)
Yeah my mate has a gen 3 so I took the tps off of his and tried it and didn't make any difference so don't know what else could it be.. ..
you say it was recently serviced did you or someone else do it ? have you double checked the fluid level ?
Yeah fluid level is fine if anything prob has a little too much I didn't do the service I have only just bought the car but it has a receipt in the glovebox and a sticker on the window saying it was serviced 9000 km ago.. So yeah..
