Default Giving my VT a service :)

Hey all, I've had my VT for about 6 months and done about 4k on it. Its done about 194k and I have yet to give it a service and i have no idea when the last owner gave it one so I'm going to give it a shot and possibly do some of it this weekend.

Now, a few questions It's on LPG (duel fuel) and basically i have no idea with a few things on what to get.

    I'm thinking I'm going to -
Give the radiator a flush (no problem)
New oil and filter (Have no idea on what oil to get, suggestions needed)
New plugs and maybe leads (Suggestions, also a little help on getting the lead off the plug would be great, they didnt want to move)
    Maybe 02 Sensors
I think theres a bit of oil coming out of the bottom of the rocker covers, so new gaskets?
My tensioner on my belt appears to be out a bit and it has some cracks, so that will get replaced.

I know theres a few other things i may have left out, if you feel theres anything else i should do please feel free to recommend it.

    Cheers

dont know about oil brand but get a K&N oil filter.

the leads should just pull off and the plug is there underneath it, put some back into it. And maybe some MSD or topgun leads go down well, and you also need a special type of socket to undo the plugs and they are like 12$ or something. and do 1 lead and plug at a time so dont mix anything up.

new gaskets should fix the oil leak and the gaskets are cheap as, and easy to replace.

and you mean the fan belt yeah? has some cracks in it?

Yes i do mean the fan belt, and yes it has cracks in it.

And as for the ignition leads, went nad had another shot. I seriously cant get any of them out, they unplug at the coil packs easily just not at the other end, is there a good place to grab them or something to get them out that I'm missing here.

And thanks for the other suggestions, ill look into them.

Penrite HPR15 is good oil, so is Castrol GTX2 .. Might be GTX Modern now. 15w40ish is good, 20w50 is a bit thick unless the motor needs something a bit thicker, but if it runs well it won't be needed. There's no real need to spend huge amounts of money on oil for an ecotec in a daily vt.

Yep as jonnoo said above with the leads. I have no idea about the LPG oil, ask the monkey at supercheap they should know. For leads, its a good idea to apply a small amount of conductive grease, because chances are you will need to remove the leads again at some stage (replace or check spark plugs). The conductive grease will ensure they can be removed easily without much trouble and they won't break/the ends won't snap off etc.

I'm pretty sure they have LPG plugs and leads too
Wouldn't be a bad idea to look into them

My mates ford was on duel fuel and we put LPG oil plugs and leads in and he thought it ran better

I'd got to a good repco or autobarn store and ask the guys who know their stuff which oil and plugs to use for LPG. The supercheap kids I find are usually just shelf stackers and aren't particularly mechanically minded. Dont cheap out on the oil either. Get a good brand like penrite or something even if it costs a bit extra

Managed to pick up some of the stuff today, went to superchaeap and managed to get some Nulon 15W-40, it says it suit lpg so that should be fine, a oil filter, all they had was some cheap brand on ryco so i grabbed one of them, a bosch drive bet (all they had) and a pod and some silicon pipe to make my cai (have some stainless steel sheeting around to enclose it).

I'll get the rest in a few weeks.
