just picked up my car from lmg at warnertown, got 260rwkw on the dyno with vcm otr, comp cam, and full exhaust. wwhat do you guys reckon?
About what?
What size cam
Maybe put the standard cam back in, I got 270rwkw when I had similar mods except cam
I realise this but c'mon, 260 with cam? Unless of course he's talking about his Magna lol
If numbers on a dyno sheet is all you care about then I guess its a "tad" low.So was my 308 207rwkw VH but it ran the numbers(11.88@115mph)that suggest it had around 230rwkw.
My cousin had his VZ 6ltr tuned at KPM by the original owner and showed 291rwkw on paper, when run up on our familys dyno it made 241rwkw befor more mods. With a re-tweak of the mafless tune it went 257 on the std cam(exhaust/Ramjet only)but went like a scalded cat.Good enough for a 12.7 1/4.He doesnt have huge numbers on paper but gets the ones at the track.
Food for thought bloke![]()
Did I just read that your cousins 6l went 257 with standard cam on your families low reading dyno? Isn't this in line with my original post? Bloke?
Seems to be about right mate, bet your loving how it feels when your drop that right foot down abit lol
Real cars don't power the front wheels, they lift them
its a comp 222/224 @112 lsa so its a small to mild cam, i didnt want to go too big because its the first cammed car ive had and i installed it myself. to tell you the truth i can only notice a little difference its not much.
oh forgot to ad, the clutch was slipping in 4th so he had to do the run in 3rd
that's fairly normal dyno read out for that sized cam - once clutch problem is solved you will gain a bit more.
did you do UDP?
My vy ss with the same cam makes 262 rwkw so id say its normal
Depending on cam size that seems like a pretty healthy reading.
I made 229rwkw (auto) with tune, otr, cats and catback. That was up from 204rwkw before tune and otr. Car is much more lively now though, eventually though the bug will bite again and something is going to be done about stock cam and diff gears.
no i didnt do UDP kind of run out of funds at the time, its a hard car to drive now, i really have to ride the clutch for ages to get going. if i slowly let it grab and then give a couple of revs to take off (like when it was standard) it will drop down to 1-200 rpm and nearly die and then bunny hop like crazy!
Sounds like it needs some love from a good tuner, a small cam like that should drive like stock. If you don't live close to someone good I recommend Steve from Oztrack
im gonna ring the guy back on monday, i agree it should drive well. i dont want to outlay another 700 for a tune to fix up someone elses problem.
