open the bottom of your intake up with a stanley knife, then it will be breathing threw the grill as well.
remove the intake snorkel and you will see were it can be cut and opened up. just watch out for your fingers

If you're going for exterior aesthetics, you could de-badge it - if you like that look. I did, I think it makes the car look much cleaner. I think it would look good on you car, just my opinion.
Not really a mod, but give it a REALLY good detail, polish and what not. It'll separate it from all the dodgey dirty VT's driving around.
I see from your pic you've painted the engine cover? Have you given any thought to polishing the plenum up? I've done it too mine and I really like the look.

It depends how "cheap" you mean. No money, you won't get much. Spend $50-$100 here and there and you could make sizeable changes. Hell for $10 you can add 1m of LED's into your boot, I did that just behind the stock light, they are in white. It gives the boot a million times more light at night, best mod I've done so far IMO and you could easily do green or some other colour.

I'll be he comes to get you, some shopping trolley kind of thing, that gets you where your going nice and slow... Well off you go that's fine, the pleasure's all mine.

I kept the Commodore badge on the boot and the two lions but that's all.

LED's dead easy mate, all you need it so rig them into a 12v power line. In the boot, just tie it into the stock lights negative and positive terminals, that's what I did (remove the negative battery terminal so you don't blow any fuses). Takes all of 5mins.
The foot well I haven't done yet, but it would be as simply as finding a 12v power line in the car. There are How-To's on here somewhere, a quick search should show some. All you'll need is some extra cabling and some LED strips, seriously the easiest and coolest little mods to a car that make it different. I will be rigging mine into the roof light circuit so they only come on with the door open and such or perhaps a switch not exactly sure yet.
