I recently been stumped by a oil showing up in the radiator and reservoir but no water in the engine oil or transmition . I have spent over $2000.00 so far trying to fix this problem with no result.
so far i have
1 - Replaced the radiator / Possible leaking trans cooler but made no difference
2 - Intake manifold gaskets / Was told this is the most likely cause but still made no difference
3 - Timing cover gaskets was replaced / Was told also a likely cause
4 - had heads removed and crack tested ( Found nothing )and had them machined and replaced with new gasket sets .
I have tried silver seal and even chemiweld with no result.
I am still find oil showing up in the radiator so if any one could give me any advise it would be truly great full.
crack in piston or bore??? have you had each cylinder pressure tested
Howdy. I have come accross a vx v6 where the guy had changed the inlet manifold gaskets however the oil still appeared in the radiator. Closer inspection upon stripping down the inlet manifolds again showed pitting around the ports that we believed caused the gaskets not to seal properly. Changed the lower manifold and the problem is now fixed. Its the way the rubber seals in the gaskets only contact on a very small area that we believed allowed the pitting to be an issue.
Pull the top end apart again and check it out. Best of luck mate
I haven't tried pressure testing each cylinder but wouldn't a cracked bore show evidence of coolant in the oil ?
