Recently picked up 2 L76's, one is a VT SS the other is a VX S.
VX S...L76......Head Gaskets were blown, Heads cracked. Have installed new VRS kit through top end, put it all back together and it is missing bad at idle, will smooth out and rev over 3k easy. Idle still really rough, and missing on initial trottle stab.
Have redone Idle Learn Sequence, Changed PCV, Checked leads and plugs, checked for vacuum leaks in manifolds and vacuum lines. am running out of ideas. Thinking that white gunk might be fouling PVC circuit, not sure.......Ideas Please
VT SS.....L76......Car has been front inpacted and then repaired. Will run alright, feels like poor accelaration and retarded feeling? Now engine wont run, Starter motor seems ok, BCM seems to be functioning and all windows and locks are working. Key head seems to be making good contact at ignition head. No turn over. Get click click from behind dash? while trying to start. High draw on battery, battery Leads seem to heat up. Am thinking the it is a BCM,PCM,PIM fault, however am trying all other options before having to take to dealership.....Any Ideas?...............
Thanks, in advance, for the help fellas, You guys are pretty good for troubleshooting.Cheers

for the VX did you get the heads shaved ? where they checked for cracks ? alot of people have found cracks in the heads of there L67's also does it have any mods or is it stock ?
The VT how far was the impact ? did it hit the engine ? double check there is nothing earthing out in the engine bay also your starter motor could be dead try giving it a few taps with the hammer and turn it over then
As far as I know the Both are stock, except someone has put an aftermarket chip in the VT, I have just sourced a genuine replacement.
VX, had heads done professionally, crack tested, pressure tested, New valve stem seals, relapped valves.....Not shaved, cast heads, not warped so no need. Running rough at idle, like missing on a couple of cylinders, then will clear and rev cleanly.
VT, I dont know how far back the car was hit repairs were done before me. I picked this one up cheap. Anyway I will check all the connections, you make a good point there, starter looks near new, was trying to avoid removing it due to lack of access, but may have to. I did remove the earth on the back of the motor that connects at the rear startet motor heat shield, and the car fired, WTF, and ran, reset earth and car refuses to run, may be coincedence but will try that again, see if she runs.....
sounds to me like a short man for the vt and for the Vx cast heads can warp as well i would never put heads back on after blowing a casket with out at least a super light skim
one thing i have learned with cars never asume its right make sure pressure test the cylinders and see how you go with the vx
VX- Situation unchanged, Checking Compression ASAP...will update as it happens.
VT- Checked all the earths, all good, all wiring in good nick, changed all relays, No change, I have a complete key head, ECU and BCM, all matching out of a L67, Can I change all or any of the components without needing a TECH2. Also got a new starter motor so will try that as well.....Checked For codes, get 12 - no fault,.......any other ideas Gents.....?

bumpity bump bump
if you use the key head the bcm and the computer and they were all from the same car ie matching set then yes it will work but dont mix and match them the VT models up have to have the matching bcm and computer other wise yes you would need a tech 2 if you used different ones and link them id try starter first then move on from there keep in mind you cant ever trust what your told when you get a car repairer/pannel work done so you knever know that what was dune.
Might be a dodgy throttle position sensor on the vx? Swap it with the one on the ss! Had a similar problem a while back
