Hi, I've obtained some VE SS wheels for my VT exec 5L, they came with Dunlop SP3000 tyres that were about 2/3rds spent in 245/40/R18 and they fit fine on the VZ they came from but on my VT they scrub the inner guard when the steering is on full right hand lock. I bought 2 new Marangoni Mythos 245/40/R18 from ebay and put them on the rear wheels but can't find any in 235/40/R18 for the fronts which is the maximum width I was told I can fit without scrubbing.
I have however been able to find these tyres in 225/40/R18 for the right money, should I take them? will going slightly narrower on the front result in any benefits/losses or problems? I can also get some Falken ZE912's in 235/40/R18 for about the same price which should be about the same quality of tyre but I'd rather my tyres matched. the Marangoni's seem very good for what I paid.
mate just double check the writing on the tyre as a VE should be 245/45/18 if it is your problem is the 45 not been a 40 however if it is 40 then things like ride hight and if you have a adjustable front caster kit can pull the wheels further forward and make them more prone to hitting.
Im suprised you cant find any matching 235/40/18 there on heaps and heaps of cars throw that into ebay and see what ya find there will be a few try calling a few shops but its not going to harm things running different brands front to rear just dont do it side to side as im sure your aware
BFGoodrich g-Force Profiler Tyres
I had these on my vn 5L they are great for the price, very sticky for around $200 each and they last ages if you have good alignment. Dunno what your budget is but great tyres these.
I can find other brand tyres to suit, that's why I mentioned the falkens. My question though is am I going to incur any issues with going slightly narrower? as I'd rather have Marangoni's all round.
