Default What is this pully for? Vt v6

What is the pully on the bottom right of the water pump for ? The smooth one. When I took it off the little collar bit of alloy that the bearing goes on and the bolt goes through sheared off . How can I fix this so the pulley can go back On

    Cheers

It is an idler pulley, it doesn't do anything except keep the belt away from other pulleys. Can you post a pic of the problem so we can understand it better.

You will need to replace the whole pylon.
There are 3 bolts to undo and straight swap.

I'm at work so can't post a pic but pretty much what holds the pully in line has sheared off. So it is a replaceable part then ? Will one from either a vr or vp work ? Will I need a new gasket too ?

lol i've snapped a couple of them over the years when i was replacing the pullies, they get pretty brittle...... you can pick them up at the wreckers for about $10 VT and VS have the same part, from memory theres an earth wire you need to remember to put under the nut when putting it all back together

They're about $30 new from Holden. Worth the extra $20ish to have a new item imo

I doubt that you will be able to get one anywhere apart from Holden or a wreckers. No idea what it is called. Use a small mirror to get a look at how it is mounted, probably as stated above, 3 bolts.
