    Default Windscreen Wiper Problem

    Hey guys,

    New problem lol,

On low my windscreen wipers don't go all way down when I use them, stopping perhaps 75mm short of where they can go. There is about that much play in the wipers, but when they are on high speed and it's raining, they go all the way down and up, if anything to far.

So that doesn't sound like motor, but I'm not sure, can't say I know much about it. Does anyone have any ideas? Or shall I just replace the lot?

as is not going all the way down does it like bend?

if so you either got the wrong blades on it and they are to thick, or need to be cut.

maybe if there is too much play in the wiper gearing inertia could help "throw" the wipers a bit further when on highspeed with a wet windscreen, just a guess really!

No, no not that. And it's had this problem a few years and many blade swaps.

Um, when they are off, and they are at the bottom of the window. If you grab them, they can move about 10cm up or down, feels like the assembly has lots of play in it. Was wondering if there's a common part that comes loose perhaps?

    Yeah, that was my thinking.

So all this play in the wiper, making it stop short and on other times go to far... anyone had it happen? I might pull the whole thing apart tomorrow and see if anything's loose, is there a gear/cog or something that could have teeth clashing?

Probably a good idea, I doubt it's long for this world regardless.

Check where the wipers attach to the posts and make sure the nuts are tight and the spline isnt stripped.

Yeah found the problem, the assembly washers between the arms are all broken and ruined. So I will probs just get a newer one, as it looks like much of Holden stuff, it's seems impossible to disassemble without breaking everything.
