Cool Cleaning Fuel Injectors on a VT?

Hi anyone ever tried cleaning there own fuel injectors and if so did it improve performance, i believe there is a way to do it on the car or a better way to do it off the car where you can actually backflush them. Any ideas??

Have you tried using a fuel additive?

Not sure if there was any performance gain on out commodore, but it feels alot smoother.

What fuel do you use? Maybe run a couple premium tanks through, might clean it out, as premium has more 'detergents' in it, so it may do the job.

I wouldn't expect any awesome gains though, unless they were really blocked up haha

I have a place near me that will do a full refurb for a fair price. You may be able to get away with using an injector cleaner (which you add to a tank of fuel) but if they're on the way out your better off getting them sorted now.

    Hey guys,

A bit of a thread dig but I didnt want to make a new one when there was already one here.

I had a bit of a problem with fuel comsumption. The car was using between 19-20L/100km. Not driving like a bitch, I do give it some stick. If I ever got 400km from a tank Id be wrapped (which was once in a blue moon lol).

I decided to get my injectors cleaned. It cost $23/injector so $138 in total. I did all the work myself, apart from cleaning the injectors obviously.

Anyways after I put them back in, topped up the petrol so i had a full tank (Vortex 98). Took me a week to empty the tank and only got 400km out of it. I thought there goes $138 down the drain.

Every time i fill up calculate my fuel consumption and write it on the receipt and this is what ive got:
    1st tank after cleaning injectors - 17.5L/100km
    2nd tank - 12.5L/100km
    3rd tank - 12.8l/100km
    4th tank - 12.2L/100km

I think maybe the computer needed time to adjust, i dunno.

But from an average of 370/tank to 550/tank is ####en awesome!!! And without changing my driving style.

    Highly recommend

I fitted these brand new injectors (shown in the link below)about 9 months ago to my VS ecotec. The car now starts instantly and runs way better, and gets a lot better fuel economy. When I went to a few EFI places to find out some info about getting my old injectors cleaned, I mentioned to the EFI places that I could get these brand new injectors on ebay for $150 , I was told that even after being reconditioned/remanufactured, older injectors will still never flow as good as brand new ones do, and that I should definitely go for the brand new ones, especially at that price. I was a bit jubious about them being "cheapo" ones , but I thought at that price I havent got much to loose,so I gave them a try. They arrived 2 days after paying for them, which I was happy about, they also came with new o rings fitted, all ready to go. I reckon I would have saved a fair bit of that $150 I spent, just in the fuel savings Ive got from them..Id recommend them to anyone thinking about getting their old injectors recoed or spending $100 buying reco ones off ebay etc.. These injectors certainly suprised me with how much difference they made with how my car starts and runs.
Not being bosch brand injectors, they probably wont last as long as the more expensive injectors, they'll probably only last for 5 years instead of 10, but its worth renewing your injectors every 5 years or so anyway if you want to keep your car running at its absolute best..I will be buying more of these for sure.

    Fuel Injector Cleaning.

When i had my ford EL XR6, i bought some AU XR6 injectors as they have a 4 point spray pattern.

Mechanic wanted $30 per injector to clean so i thought i would do it myself.

Bought a syringe, carby cleaner and 9volt battery
This is a rude crude way of cleaning it, and worked pretty well. Still doesnt beat a proper clean

they would fit being EV6 style but I'm unsure why you want to do this as they would flow way to much for a standard 6 and you would need the ecu touched up to suit

normaly people with LS1s do the opposite and and get supercharged V6 injectors as a upgrade with modest upgrades
