Default Brakes going soft and handbrake light go on in 1999 vt wagon

    Hi all,

Its happened to me twice now. If I sit in traffic for to long my brakes go soft and the handbrake light comes on, feeling as if the handbrake is on slightly. Also once this happens it makes a clunking noise in the back if you take off from stand still.

If i turn the car off for around a minute or 2 the problem goes away..

    Any ideas?

wow exactly the same happened to me!!! do a brake fluid flush and bleed!! also check all your brake pads!! i replaced the master cylinder while i was at it with a brand new one! feels really good now!! but what it is, is that the fluid gets boiled when gets too hot and you loose pressure in the system! hope that helps!

I'll be checking the brake vaccum boost assist for leaks!! include the hoses as well.
